Cold heading (cold forging, cold forming) is one of the core technologies of SPP Industry. Cold heading is a metal working method in which a metal material is shaped by the application of an appropriate force. The “cold” in Cold Heading refers to the process of obtaining a predetermined shape by merely impacting, stretching, bending, and/or applying other forces at room temperature, without heating the material to deform it. At SPP Industry, we manufacture all of our own moulds and we are able to provide higher precision with smaller tolerances than common processes. In addition, we have developed manufacturing techniques that produce virtually no burrs. The main advantage of cold heading over machining and other moulding methods involving material removal is high speed, high volume production. Among a variety of other cold heading processes, SPP Industry specialises in the upsetting of wire or bar stock and offers a wide range of components for consumer goods, automotive components and medical devices.
